My first initial idea

My Target Audience . . .

CHAVS (pictures collected from www.chavscum.com )

Large Council Estates in Leeds:

SEACROFT
Seacroft is an extensive area of east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
The area's population is 18,000, and it is one of the largest council estates in the country. The name is often used as a catch-all for Seacroft and the neighbouring areas of Whinmoor and Swarcliffe, other large east Leeds council estates which merge into each other

GIPTON
Gipton is an early twentieth-century council estate between Harehills and Seacroft in north-east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It suffers from serious social problems and has long been wrongly considered one of the city's worst estates, but never being treated as a no-go area by the police or other services. Gipton is still home to many decent people whose parents had moved out of the slums in the 1930s/40s. In local parlance, those that live in or originate from Gipton are known as Giptoners, or more recently, youths have adopted the term 'Giptonites' [Like Kryptonite].

HALTON MOOR
Halton Moor is a district of east Leeds, situated between Killingbeck to the north, Osmondthorpe to the west and Halton and Colton to the east. It is also close to Cross Gates and Whitkirk.
The area is mainly a council housing estate with approximately 1000 homes. The estate suffers serious problems of crime and anti-social behaviour, and has long been considered one of the city's worst estates. Throughout the city, the area generally does not have a good reputation and the authorities and local people have found it hard to shake off. Housing in Halton Moor is mainly semi-detached houses, with some terraced houses and some high rise blocks.

BRAINSTORMING

When we were presented with the brief i decided pretty much straight away that i wanted to do somthing differant to what people would percieve as an island. I didnt really like the idea of having a character stranded somewhere out at sea or on an island up in space but use a somewhere that a lot of people are familiar with the UK - Council Estates which in some respects are islands any way due to the type of people that are stereotypically associated with them and the appearance that the majority of these areas have, run down, poor and places that produce all criminals, drug addicts, yobs, uneducated youths and sponging parents on the dole. Over the past10 - 15 years a new stereotype has arised from these run down areas and has now become a dictionary entry. . . . .CHAVS
They will be the main focus for my game, which will be set within a council estate in Leeds.
